Halloween, A time to be your alter ego or even your slutty alter ego as in a Slutty Nurse, or a Slutty Nun. Yesterday, I was gazing at the window of Strawberry, my favorite cheap thrill at the Slutty Strawberry Shortcake costume. Last year, Jen and I went as famous T.V. housewives. She was Peg Bundy from Married with Children and I was June Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver. Colonel Sanders stepped in for fun. Everyone loved my tray of fresh baked cookies and were able to taste them too. Is this my alter ego? I am not sure, but check back in a few years and I will let you know!

Talkin' With Tracy
A Note from Jessie:
This past Wednesday evening, Sarah and I had the pleasure of attending the Tracy Reese Spring 2009 Press Preview at her boutique in the Meet Packing District. The event was absolutely amazing, tagged with a running theme of "Coney Island Circus Chic." From the decorations of candy-striped fabric panels, to the hors d'ourves of cotton candy and fresh pop-corn, to the attire of those assisting at the event from the boutique staff, all aspects were aligned and prim for presentation. Sarah and I had the amazing opportunity to spend a few minutes chatting with Miss Reese herself, discussing her inspiration for the collection, and her personal favorite pieces, one of which she was wearing, quite stylishly I might add, as a hounds tooth drop-waist jumper'ette. Her bright red lip really made a powerful statement as compared with the more severe tones of her ensemble, and she looked absolutely beaming all in all. One of the boutique assistants, Noah, really stuck out as a vibrant, vivacious and outgoing character. He spent a great deal of time chatting with us throughout the evening, and helped us select a few garments to try on towards the end. As a design graduate from FIDM in Los Angeles, and an aspiring NYC designer extraordinaire, Noah really pumped extra personality into the event. His personal style was fabulous as well, as you can see from our candid shot of him above.
The event lasted from 6:00pm - 8:30pm, and at the close of the night, I felt not only soo lucky to have attended, but incredibly inspired by the new carnivalle collection. Pieces from her current line can be found at stores such as Anthropologie, Nordstrom, Saks, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales, so be sure to check them out, and score some amazing outfits while the product is still on the shelves. And don't forget to check out Tracy's site for a complete listing of all her current products at

Bed Sheet Chic
I took my class to a press preview for Industry Publicity a week or so back. It was at the Scatola showroom and the ever famous PR maestro, Paul Rogers showed us around. We dug up this little dress and Jessie termed it, Bed Sheet Chic. The term speaks for itself and to the washed cotton dresses with voluminous yet soft ruffles and scalloped edges that can show up in the linens of many a boudoir. Forcasting a big selection of bed sheet inspired dresses and blouses blowing in the wind like fresh laundry hung out to dry in the sun and wind in Spring '08. I suggest you get all wrapped up in Bed Sheet Chic.

Comme des Garcons Launch Party

A Note from Jessie:
Last night, Sarah, the VP of tag lines and slogans (me), and busy bee networker L. Hubes attended an "everybody whose anybody" party. H & M premiered their new line, Comme des Garcons, designed by Rei Kawakubo at a star-studded event in Hells Kitchen's E-Space. Complete with champagne, wine, beer, hot-pants, wigs, weaves, and models, the night was a parade of fashion and fabulousness. Highlights from the new line were set up on dress forms around the room, and let me just say.. it looks AMAZING. I can't wait until it hits the stores, and becomes available for purchase in the next few weeks. After mingling and networking with industry profeshs and other notable attendees, Lauren worked her way to the front of the press line, and schmoozed her business card right up to Maggie Gyllenhaal herself! CELEBRITY! Overall, the night was a complete jeweltasm from start to finish...and I have the pictures to prove it. Check 'em out, and check out H&M's website for updates on this, and other special clothing collaborations!
A Sparkletasim
With so much talk about Jeweltasims lately, I thought it'd only be fair to share this overly extraordinary look with you. This was snapped at a Target event this summer. She sure does shine though.. the girl and the skirt! I love this outfit! Navy blue sequins are to live for! Hence the Sparkletasim. A wise girl told me yesterday that she loved my earrings and "was a barracuda for sparkly things!"
Lovely
I had the lovely experience of being a guest expert on HSN(Home Shopping Network) in September for Sarah Jessica Parker's fragrance, Lovely. It was so much fun being in St. Peterburg, Florida and on the HSN campus and studios for an entire week. Pat Field was also there showing off her Destination Style collection. It was a star studded week with not only Pat Field but Iman, Lauren Hutton and Ken Paves. HSN is the hottest destination for style.

You Won't Melt at Icebergs
ICEBERGS is the HOTSPOT for the coolest people watching on earth, well maybe in the southern hemisphere. If your down under, no trip to the land of roos and red rocks is complete with out a trip to Bondi Beach and this magical restaurant in a setting that is so unique as to have a pool where ocean water spills in and out of. Let's just hope you don't do the same with your drink!

Thuging In Etro!
Kevin and I dressed in Etro (it's only my favorite designer) to go to my sister, Daphne's summer social on a splendid Thursday evening in this past summer in Short Hills. Kevin looks old school with the glasses that Kayne made famous again but I remember when they were en vogue the first time around in the 80's from the movie Mannequin. Wanna say ciao to Etro, just click the name.

The Malibu Lumber Yard
Hello Kitty....Hello Icon....Hello
How cute are Tom Sachs bronze sculptures of Hello Kitty and Bunny at the Lever House. I really stumbled upon these object d'arts on my way home from class a few weeks ago. I googled them and realized they are by artist, Tom Sachs and a major fete was has in their honour. Hello Kitty and I have always been friends. She and I were both born in the same year and I've had a major obsession with her ever since including Hello Kitty stickers, kitty cruiser bike, backpacks, stuffed dolls in various sizes, erasers, wallets, key chains, purses.....next what will it be, the toaster or the waffle maker?

Style Supernovas
On Tuesday evenings, I teach a college course called "Advanced Fashion Styling" at LIM College in Manhattan. Except for some occasional whining, I have 6 very talented students! Here are the results of their "mid-term" photo shoot. It was so fun to see each persons style emerge. The assignment was to bring in a look that would represent "A new take on an old classic" The photographer is Eric Hason. Make-up and hair, Jennifer Wobito. Model is Anna at RedNYC

Totally Tights

A Note From Jessie:
Tights are all the rage right now, and for good reason. As most of us are realizing, the economy is in less-than-par condition, and as a result, shoppers are looking for more "budget-savvy" ways to update their wardrobes for fall. Instead of normally investing in a new expensive coat, or amazing designer dress, accessories are being viewed as the "must have revamp key." From belts to necklaces and pins, to scarves, hats and gloves, these smaller accent pieces really help take any look from drab to fab, and create an entirely new visual image from items already owned. To me, the most important in the accessory family seems to be the tight...an incredibly inexpensive, fun and decorative way to change any look drastically, and create a new feeling and mood. With textures ranging from lace to hounds tooth and floral, sheer patterns to opaque monotones and everything in between, tights are really reshaping the way women are dressing for the season. A great pair is so easy to find, and oh so affordable. My favorite places to shop; Urban Outfitters and American Apparel. Here, you can find awesome and outstanding prints, textures and colors, with different finishes and topcoats, and oftentimes, with amazing deals. Urban Outfitters has all their tights on promotion right now as 2 pairs for $20.00 - what a steal. So the next time you feel like you are drowning in a wardrobe rut, and want something special and fun to add flair to your outfit, run outside and grab a pair of tights...your legs will never be the same!
Here is the link for Urban Outfitters, a great place to start your tights shopping for cheap!

The Clue Phone
... is ringing and it's for you! Do you remember that one? When Jesse took this image at Kaplan, The Prop Company, I knew I had to post it. I used to have a retro phone in my first New York apartment but it was wired to the wall and hard to get out so I left it there. Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City also had a retro phone in the first few seasons of the show before she or her set decorators decided to get a cordless. The retro phone was so much chicer!

A Nice Day for a White Wedding

Here's some tears from InFashion, Novias magazine from Mexico City. I am a freelance fashion editor and do many stories for them mainly ready-to-wear fashion. However I wanted to boost up my bridal portfolio. This was shot by Frank Versonsky. You can check out his site too frankveronsky.com Frank and I met years back when I was working as a freelance stylist with the Wall Street Journal. Since then, we've shot tons of images together.
