Ace in the Ho-tel
Tredding through boring corporate mid-town office spaces and too hip trendy hip down town fish bowls, I stumbled in this nasty yet up and coming area know as the wholesale market meets the pefume disctrict. The l'eau de toilet does not make this fringe hood smell sweet but the brew of stumptown coffee's hip 1920's inspired barista boys. Enter the Ace Hotel. One part hip gastro pub, The Breslin, a dash of subway sandwiches, a gift shop selling trinkets a gift shop would never sell like a $3000 copper table, Opening Ceremony- the emporoum on haute hipsterness and designs by Chole Sevigny and this is all on the ground floor. Rooms are decked out with bunk beds to kingdom beds and some even have the refer unit Jamie Oliver made famous, the Smeg, to store all your cold-ones. Don't need a place to crash? The Ace is the perfect local hang out complete with a library-inspired, lobby bar perfect for you and your lap top by day or to get tipsy with your freind Travis come sundown.
