Vampire Weekend

Looking to have a Vampire Weekend? May I suggest watching one of the best Vamp movies ever made, Lost Boys! Sure, Anne Rice's, "Interview with a Vampire" is a classic, who doesn't love Lestat and Buffy for her slaying ways. I've heard Twilight is all the rage. Wanna get your Vampire on, throw on some fangs and a pair of Karen Walker sunglasses. Listen to a playlist inspired by this romantic blood sucking creature:
Vampire - Antsy Pants (best Vampire song ever- "I've lost my mouth again"
Mansard Roof- Vampire Weekend
The World is a Vampire- Smashing Pumpkins
Fearless Vampire Killers- Bad Brains
Vampire - Sinead O'connor
Vampire- The Blakes
Vampire- Peter Tosh
Bloodletting- Concrete Blond
Vampire Blue- Neil Young
Just steer clear of Energy Vampires! Don't forget your sunglasses.

I Work at Bogue Magazine

This is for all of you who never know what I mean when using the word Bogan. I am at times a bogan like today, I'm wearing the same Hollister sweats, singlet( wife beater) and hoodie I wore yesterday. The word is said to come from the Scottish word Bocan. If you went to highschool with me you know the word. I never stopped saying it. It's was my yearbook quote. Picked up this term in Australia at 16- Emelia, my Aussie host sis- (we call each other Souther Sister's and that's not becuase we were in the Southern Hemisphere but becuase we liked to add some Comfort to our drinks!) taught it to me. I'm teaching it to you. Also Karl did an entire collection based on Chavs!
Bogan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term bogan (pronounced /ˈboʊgən/, rhyming with slogan) is Australian and New Zealand English slang, usually pejorative or self-deprecating, for a person who is, or is perceived to be, of a lower-class background. According to the stereotype, the speech and mannerisms of "bogans" indicate poor education, cheap clothing and uncultured upbringing. 'Bogans' usually reside in economically disadvantaged suburbs (often outer metropolitan) or rural areas[1].
The term is a close regional equivalent to the English term Chav or Pikey, Scottish term Ned, Irish term Scanger or Spide and the North American terms White Trash and Hillbilly.
Elements of the stereotype
Certain types of clothing are stereotypically associated with bogans, including flannelette shirts, singlets, Stubbies shorts, track pants (tracky dacks) [6], ugg boots[7], thongs, jeans, black leggings [8] and trucker caps [9].

FOXY

This past weekend I took a mini road trip down to Delaware to see my favorite new band For The Foxes!!!! These jersey native boys are both a treat for the eyes and ears, with their toe tapping tunes and tight jeans these boys know how to please an audience. Most recently featured on MTV's The Real World Brooklyn and a T-Mobile commercial, the Foxes are about to break into the big time, in a BIG way. You can check out the Foxes in NYC this Friday night at Angels and Kings, and make sure you look FOXXXYY!

LUSHES

Now that it's officially spring, there's no reason to throw all of our winter styles out the window! The loop scarf is something we have been seeing all winter long, and we hope to see it for a long time! Necklush is made to keep you looking cool all year round. It's offered in a wide array of colors, lengths, and custom orders for that creative soul! This is not a trend to watch but a trend to follow! Jump on the band wagon and sex up that neck with a necklush.
Sunset Compliments of Bora Bora

Happy Friday! I need a weekend like I need a glass of champers! Real Bad! I'm knee deep in sunglasses as I prepare for "Sunglasses for your Shape" on the Today Show, March 27th around 9:30 a.m. I'd love it if you watched this coming Friday. It would mean the world in sunsets and sunrises to me! The perfect time to wear sunglasses. Enjoy your weekend and may your life be filled with many sets and rises!

Lay the Pipes

I bought a new suit, a wet suit that is and did my first ever winter surf this past Sunday. It was a big deal for me as I am terrified of extreme cold weather even though I was born in upstate New York, attended Syracuse University where is snows in May and love to shred the gnar gnar in the cherry pow pow. But I did it! I conquered my fears. Nervously trekking to the upper east side, a place I rarely venture due to it's dullness, I went to New York Pipe Dreams. This was after I had a conversation with Danny, a super radster who I spoke with on the phone and confirmed he had the goods I was looking for. Danny helped me out a lot even though he knew I was ultra nervous trying on a full wet suit. OK, I'm the girl who surfs in a bikini in 60 degree water temps. Sweating enough to drench the wet suit entirely, it seemed like the right choice even though feelings of claustrophobia were setting in. Things proved to be worth it as I surfed on Sunday, greeted by my surf friend out at Long Beach at 7:30 a.m. and in the 44 degree water temps by 8 a.m. feeling quite toasty. The feeling was surreal. There was not even a moment where I wished I was in Australia on the ferry going to Manley.
In need of something radical, holler at my boy Danny NewYorkPipeDreams
p.s. Even though I'm not supposed to be shopping, I scored the sweetest Zoo York T and a Volcom back pack too. Just call me a shred Betty!

Helmut Lang'in around Town

When I worked at Tommy Hilfiger we used to say this all the time as Helmut was like a demi-god back then. He went away for while and now he's kinda making a comeback. I still have my Helmut Lang shoes with the rubber band sling backs that I bought when Jeffrey New York just opened. So safety chic. I wanted to get this dress the other day at Barney's but they did not have my size(it was on sale so it's ok to shop right) and I think the sales people at Barney's are really rude. I have a credit there because my BFF bought me a gorgeous DVF dress there for my birthday but I had to return it! TOO BIG. Here's to the return of Helmut!

Flea Market Frolicker

This weekend I ventured over to Dumbo (Brooklyn not the flying elephant), to paruse the winter pop up market of the brownstoner's brooklyn flea. Located on 76 Front street in the most lovely area of Brooklyn, shoppers of all kinds gather to rejoice in the bargain beauties and take a break from the hectic Manhattan shopping scene. You can find everything here from disco dresses, to your great aunt Petunia's pearl poodle pin (try saying that 3 times fast), all the way to yummy bit sized red velvet cupcakes, to original Polaroid camera's. The market is a great place to grab inspiration and a bit to eat, then you can take your goodies down to Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park and soak up the sun and the amazing views of New York City under the Brooklyn Bridge.

All that Glitters

There is a land where Pucci runs free, D&G means more than a missing E&F and Alexander can be a McQueen, this land of diamonds is none other than Bergdorf Goodman. This is a shopping salvation to Manhattan's elite that want style with an edge and can afford to be extravagant every now and then. I took a trip this morning to BG to find some killer duds, and boy was I in designer heaven. I trotted straight up to 5F(BG's 5th floor full of contemporary designer wear), where spring had definitely sprung. I was surrounded by bright colors, and floral prints in all shapes and sizes! I couldn't make my way out of their fast enough before I broke my bank account, but if you are in need of some retail therapy Bergdorf's is the place to seek treatment.

The Hotel That Melts

Bienvenue to the Hotel de Glace. We hope you enjoy your stay and that things don't get to hot and heavy where as the beds may melt. Yes the beds are made of ice and appointed with fur pelts in addition to the check-in desk and the glasses which are carved, smooth and very glassy. Come spring, passion won't keep this hotel up as it slowly dissipates only to be erected the following season. I am a fan of all things frosty except an icy demeanour. Living vicariously through my brother who sledded to the Ice hotel in Quebec with his girlfriend and snowmobiling partner on their matching Polaris machines, I had to post for my "trippin" category as I am on a semi-permanent "staycation" here in New York. "Ice Hotel, Take Me Away!"

Mod Squad

I went to the press preview for Lisa Perry on Tuesday and it was totally boss. Her new line UN-zipped is all about versatility, where you can literally unzip the bottom of your dress right off and make it into a top!! Her showroom was simply divine, filled with bright bold colors and psychedelic prints. It really flipped my lid! Lisa is a master of 60's flare selling not only clothing but books, movies, dinner ware, linens, children's toys, you name it shes got it. I can't wait to get my hands on one of her luggage bags, they come in every color under the sun and are the perfect jet setting tote for those in need of a style pick-me-up coupled with the blase travel wardrobe on a long flight.

Chaiwaller

I took full advantage of the snow day yesterday and FINALLY went to see Slumdog Millionaire!! And am now a true believer in good things happen to good people. Besides the moral story of the movie I fell in love with the music and the visual narrative of the film, it was a treat for the eyes and ears! The film was inspiring all around, I urge you to catch it before it leaves theaters!! Check out this clip that will have you hip shaking and hand clapping in a matter of seconds!!
